The Tour de France is probably France's favourite sporting event. The Tour is a multiple stage bicycle race held annually in France, usually in the beginning of July. It's so famous that even those who are not interested in cycling recognise the yellow jersey of the race's stage leader. Thousands of people gather along the route, some even camp for days to get the best view. And, of course, the view is beautiful since the race crosses some very picturesque places around the country.
The route changes every year, but it primarily passes through France and occasionally some bordering countries. Mont Ventoux also called "The Giant of Provence" is a highlight of the part of the race that takes place in Provence.
