Twice a year Paris becomes a perfectionist's paradise. Each May 10 and August 1 (or around these two days) the sun sets down right in the axis of the Arc de Triomphe. Of course, a spectacle like this draws a lot of attention. But if you want to join the dozens of photographers and viewers make sure to pay attention to the angle and the distance you'll be watching it from. If you are too far the Arc de Triomphe will be too small compared to the size of the sun and won't allow you to see it setting. On the other hand, if you're too close you'll only see the upper part of the Arc and some part of the sun. Le Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées is considered to be the perfect viewing point so head strictly there not to miss this rare occasion.
