The Long Night of Museums

Provence is famous of its museums. The lifestyle and magnificent natural landscapes of this region have attracted lots of painters and artists throughout the years, and now their works are in local museums and galleries. Carrieres de Lumieres and Musee Yves Brayer paintings in Les Baux-de-Provence, Musee Simon Segal Contemporary Art in Aups, Atelier Cezanne and Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence, Fondation Van Gogh in Arles, Musee Nationale de Fernand Leger near Biot and this is not nearly the whole list of museums and galleries in Provence. Annually they open their doors for free during the Long Night of Museums. The closing hour is postponed, and the visitors can enter the museums at night for free. The Night of Museums is usually held on Saturday closest to May 18th—International Museum Day.
