Desfile del día de San Patricio is the culmination of the Irish Day celebration in Chicago. The procession starts at noon going along Columbus Drive from Balbo Drive and finishing at Monroe Drive. Be prepared to see many colorful floats and flags, bagpipes and Irish step dancers. The massive three-hour celebration continues with several block parties. The Irish American Heritage Center holds an impressive festival attracting visitors with food, music, and Irish dance, while Shamrock’n The Block party by Old St. Patrick’s Church draws crowds with lots of Guinness and Jameson. Mind that South Side and Northwest Side neighborhoods hold their local St. Patrick's Day parades after the main event.
