According to Chinese calendar every year is symbolized by an animal, for example, 2015 is the year of Sheep. In Chinatown the celebrations are brought on to a totally higher level. The huge parade is organized with traditional dragons, lion dances and lots of floats dedicated to the animal of the year.

The parade starts at 24th Street and Wentworth Avenue. Then it heads north up Wentworth to Cermak Road. You can observe marching bands, colorful floats, traditional lion dances and of course there will be plenty of traditional Chinese New Year dishes. About 30,000 people attend this event every year.
