The smallest of all the continental states of Australia owns a beautiful coastline, which makes for a perfect holiday spot. The sandy beach area of the province stretches for almost 2,000 km and includes more than 20 marine parks and sanctuaries.

Ninety Mile Beach and Lakes Entrance impress with their clean golden sands and are ideal for swimming. Mornington Peninsula is a great place for families, and Queenscliff is suitable for those who prefer to combine a beach trip with a picnic and seafood.

One of the most popular beach destinations is the coast along the Great Ocean Road where natural limestone pillars, the Twelve Apostles, seem to grow out of the waters of the Southern Ocean. Many interesting adventures await tourists on the Phillip Island, at Cape Woolamai, where pink granite offers stunning views of the wild Bass Strait.

Near Melbourne, there is a wide sandy beach of St. Kilda in Port Phillip Bay, and the beaches of Dendy Street, Middle Brighton, and Brighton in the territory of the city reserve, where you have windsurfing, yachting, and boating. For a more relaxing holiday, the sandy beach of Port Phillip Bay is suitable with special areas protected from boats. Those who prefer sailing and other types of water recreation should check out Elwood Beach with its picnic areas and playgrounds, as well as Williamstown. Wineglass Beach is one of the most secluded and remote bays in the world and is invariably recognized as one of the best and most beautiful beaches.
