What makes an excellent beach holiday? Warm, sunny weather, pristine beaches, and the clear turquoise Carribean sea of course! Another great swimming attraction of Cancun is its natural aquarium Xel-Ha renowned as the world's largest. This combination of lagoons, inlets, caves, and sinkholes offers lots of fun.
Speaking of the beaches or "playas" as natives call them, the most popular are Forum Beach, Playa Marlin, Playa Gaviota Azul, Playa Chak Mool, and Playa Delfines. All of them are open for holidaymakers year-round, but not all seasons are favourable for a beach holiday. April would be good, if not for jellyfish abundance in the shallow waters owing to their mating season. Further months aren't quite good, because of the boiling-hot sun. August marks the start of rainy season, and hurricanes pose a threat from September to November. So the most convenient season is December through March—moderately warm, rainless, and safe from hurricanes.
