Basel Fasnacht (Carnival of Basel) Featured in
Basel is home to the most celebrated Carnival in Switzerland that attracts both the Swiss and international visitors alike. Don't miss the famous Parade with tens of thousands of costumed participants marching through the city centre. This spectacle starts at 1:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. The holiday itself usually lasts for three days and abounds with bright colours, hilarious costumes, and tons of music and dancing—not to mention all the delicious Swiss winter specialties. The best way to spend Fasnacht is just to go with the flow and do what locals do—roam the narrow streets to the tune of drums and pipes playing popular carnival tunes.
